Adenoidectomy: Adenoids are a mass of lymphoid tissue located behind the nasal passages which can become enlarged or infected. The doctor will cauterize (burn) the adenoids and remove through the mouth.
BMT: Inflammation of the middle ear (otitis media) is a result of a middle ear infection. A small incision is made in the eardrum and fluid is suctioned out and then a pressure-equalization (PE) tube is placed in the eardrum. This usually improves hearing and decreases infections. The tube will eventually fall out as the ear heals.
